As part of CVC's Tradition of Successful Athletes, information from our 2008-2009 season is archived to recognize our athletes' accomplishments.

CVC 17 Black Win National Championship!

CVC 17 Black won first place in the 17 National division of the 2009 USA Junior Olympic Girls' Volleyball Championships (Miami, June 26-July 5, 2009). Congratulations to Brittney Balser, Michelle Chakirelis, Christine Fritsche, Taryn Graham, Dayna Roberts, Emily Stewart, Kelly Svoboda, Amanda Videmsek, and Emily Witsaman, and to coaches Sherry Martin and Krista Singleton!

CVC 15 Black Runner-Up at Nationals!

CVC 15 Black: 2009 National Champion Runner-Up

CVC 15 Black were runners up in the 15 National division of the 2009 USA Junior Olympic Girls' Volleyball Championships (Miami, June 26-July 5, 2009). Congratulations to Faith Bindernagel, Kyra Coundourides, Arrianna Cumberledge, Darby Griff, Midori Harrison, Maddie Kosar, Ashley McCormick, Ally Peters, Kelsey Snider, and Lauren Thompson, and to coaches Rich Severino and Lindsay Vannett!

CVC Athletes Named MVP and to All-American Teams!

Christine Fritsche (CVC 17 Black) was selected as MVP at the 2009 USA Junior Olympic Girls' Volleyball Championships. Also from CVC 17 Black, Amanda Videmsek and Dayna Roberts were selected for the All-American team. From CVC 15 Black, Allie Peters, Darby Griff, and Ashley McCormick were selected for the All-American team. We congratulate each of them on these wonderful accomplishments!

CVC 13 Black Finishes Fifth at Nationals!

CVC 13 Black took 5^th in the top-level 13 National division of the 2009 USA Junior Olympic Girls' Volleyball Championships. Congratulations to Victoria Adkins, Samantha Baldini, Chrissy Grcar, Shannon Grega, Maddi Griff, Julia Milano, Amy Pilat, Jennifer Polito, Samantha Smitley, Kelsey Vallee, and to coaches Melanie Snyder and Jeff Griff.

CVC 16 Black took 20^th in the top-level 16 Open division of the 2009 USA Junior Olympic Girls' Volleyball Championships. Congratulations to Abby Brinkman, Cheyenne Dawson, Bridget Grdina, Lauren Landsman, Brittany Link, Paige Pileski, Nicole Snyder, Lauren Teknipp, Megan Wendel, and Lauren Williams, and to coaches Cass Dixon and Aline dos Santos.

Congratulations to Mallory Alexander, Cayley Balser, Lauren Beck, Christina Brady, Savannah Gabram, Rachel Grcar, Samantha Kline, Melissa Landsman, Brianna Preto, and to coaches Sarah Verhoff and Kelly Coughlin.

CVC 16 Black Wins Open Bid to Nationals at the Big South Qualifier!

Congratulations to CVC 16 Black for earning an Open seed at the USA Volleyball National Championships in Miami!

CVC 12 Black Earns Spot at Nationals!

Congratulations to CVC 12 Black for winning the Hoosier Mideast Qualifier and qualifying for the USA Volleyball National Championships in Miami!

Congratulations to CVC's Players of the Year

Congratulations to Lauren Whyte, Kelci, Marschall, and Kristen Baker, all of CVC 18 Black, who were named as high school players of the year by local newspapers:

Lauren Whyte (Olmsted Falls HS), Cleveland Plain Dealer "Player of the Year" and also "2008 Gatorade Player of the Year" for the State of Ohio
Kelci Marschall (Wooster HS), Akron Beacon Journal "Player of the Year"
Kristen Baker (Mentor HS), New Herald "Player of the Year"

Alexa Rand Selected to Clemson

Congratulations to Alexa Rand (CVC 18 Black, 2008), who was recently selected to play with the Clemson Tigers. Communicated to us by Alexa's mom, "It was a long haul that ended better than any of us ever expected. Alexa couldn't be happier.
